Meet Michael Conheeney – Senior Case Manager
We sat down with Michael Conheeney to learn more about his experience at Northern Case Management (NCM) and why he believes it’s a great place to work.
Q: Can you give a quick overview of what you do at NCM?
Michael:
I work as a Senior Case Manager at NCM. My role involves managing and supporting clients, their families, and care teams—both during litigation and beyond. I also support and supervise other Case Managers.
Q: How would you describe the team culture at NCM?
Michael:
There’s a strong team culture here. It’s more than just working together—it’s about creating an environment that supports and enhances both personal and professional development. Everyone is encouraged to express their values, beliefs, and practices.
Q: How does working as a Case Manager at NCM differ from similar roles elsewhere?
Michael:
At NCM, I have the autonomy to do my job without feeling micromanaged. I’m trusted to use my knowledge and skills to perform at a high level. There’s always support available when I need it, which is incredibly valuable.
Q: What motivates you—and the team—to stay at NCM?
Michael:
The team is fantastic—very supportive. Even when people are busy, they always make time to listen and help. I genuinely enjoy being in the office; the team feels like a work family. Our Business Director is approachable and maintains an open-door policy, which makes a big difference.
Q: What are some common challenges Case Managers face, and how does NCM help overcome them?
Michael:
Legal pressures can be tough, but peer support is always there. The job can be frustrating at times, but our Business Director and senior management are consistently available to guide and support us through the most demanding days.
Q: What qualities or values does NCM look for in new Case Managers?
Michael:
We look for people who uphold our core values—those who are compassionate, client-focused, and collaborative. It’s all about achieving the best care and rehabilitation outcomes.
Q: What would you say to someone who’s unsure about applying?
Michael:
I’d encourage them to meet with our Business Director and Clinical Lead—ask the questions that are holding you back. Spend time with the team and see how supportive they are. I’ve been with NCM for over 20 years—nine of those as a Case Manager—and I was recently promoted to Senior Case Manager. The career pathway is there if you take the opportunities.
Jump! It might be the best decision you make.
